12th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting - December 2nd

December is the peak holiday season, and what would the holidays be without a decorated Christmas tree!? In Leesburg, we put up our community tree at the Town Green. While it’s set up beforehand, we wait to “flip the switch” until the first Friday of December — out of respect for Thanksgiving, which many people seem to forget about!

On December 2nd, the city of Leesburg will celebrate its 12th Annual Tree Lighting! Come on out to the Town Green in Leesburg from 4:00pm to 7:00pm to partake in all sorts of festivities, including carolers, a DJ, iceless ice skating (yes, you read that right), hot chocolate, and cookie decorating, only to name a few of the fun activities you can enjoy.

Get to the event right at 4:00pm to see Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving at the lighting ceremony by fire truck! And of course, stick around until 7:00pm to see the Leesburg Christmas Tree light up in all its glory to ring in the holiday season.

Holiday Fine Arts and Crafts Show - December 3rd and 4th

It’s never easy to find unique gifts for everyone on your list, unless you’re in Leesburg, VA on December 3rd weekend!

On December 3rd and 4th, 2022, local vendors and artisans from all over the region will descend on the Ida Lee Recreation Center for the annual Holiday Fine Arts and Crafts Show. Browse through multiple floors and rooms filled with everything you need to make your holiday happy, including:

· Table linens

Christmas and Holiday Parade - December 10th

There’s no better way to usher in a season than with a festive parade! In Leesburg, VA, dozens of holiday floats, local bands, historic cars and trucks, and more will make their way down King Street through Historic Leesburg in the annual Christmas and Holiday Parade.

The parade starts at 6:00pm on Saturday, December 10th. Admission is completely free, so anyone can come and enjoy the festivities. Participation is also open to the public, so if you want to be a part of the Leesburg Holiday Parade, you can! Just fill out a registration form and get your holiday costumes ready.

Holiday Cookie and Wine Pairing - Sundays in December

What goes great with wine? Well, everything… But at this time of year, it’s hard to beat a local Leesburg wine with a holiday cookie or two (or three, or four, or a dozen)!

On Saturdays and Sundays in December, head over to Bluemont Vineyard between 11:00am and 5:00pm for their Holiday Cookie & Wine Pairing. The wine experts at Bluemont will tell you the best wines to pair with delicious holiday cookies made fresh by Knead It Bakery.

Reservations for the event are $35 per person and include four cookies and four wine pairings. Once the event is over, stick around to see Bluemont Vineyards light up over 10,000 vines with holiday lights for a spectacle you won’t soon forget.

There’s no better match than wine and cookies, except maybe Santa and Mrs. Claus, of course.
